ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY (AUP)

1. Acceptable Use

You may use your Hastings Virtual Address for:

General Mail Handling

  • Personal mail
  • Business correspondence
  • Bank statements & financial mail
  • HMRC letters (unless the HMRC requires a trading address)
  • Utility bills, insurance documents, contracts
  • Courier deliveries (subject to parcel size limits)

Virtual Business Address

  • Sole trader trading address
  • Contact address on a website or business cards
  • Invoice or supplier correspondence
  • Registered Office address for UK limited companies
  • Director’s Service Address
  • Receiving legal correspondence related to your business

Communication While Travelling

Ideal for:

  • HGV/LGV drivers
  • Seasonal workers
  • Travellers / digital nomads
  • Caravan or lodge owners
  • Remote workers and freelancers

Mail can be collected, forwarded, or scanned depending on your plan.


Prohibited Use

You must not use the virtual address for any of the following:

1. Residential Address or Proof of Residency

The address must not be used as:

  • Your permanent residential address
  • Proof of where you live
  • Evidence for council tax or housing applications
  • Eligibility for school admissions, GP registration, etc.
  • A tenancy reference

It is not suitable for claiming residency or local authority benefits.

2. DVLA Vehicle Registration

You must not use this address for:

  • V5C logbook (vehicle registration)
  • Driving licence address
  • Vehicle taxation or SORN registration

DVLA does not permit PO Boxes or virtual addresses for these purposes.

3. Government-Issued Identification

The address cannot be used on:

  • A UK driving licence
  • Passport applications
  • BRP / immigration documents
  • Firearms certificates
  • Other identity documents which require proof of residence

4. Fraudulent, Illegal or Misleading Activity

Strictly prohibited:

  • Concealing your identity or location
  • Avoiding creditors or enforcement agencies
  • Money laundering
  • High-risk or regulated activities without disclosure
  • Using the address for anything unlawful under UK law

We report suspicious activity where required.

5. Receiving Hazardous, Prohibited, or Restricted Items

You may not have delivered:

  • Dangerous goods (flammable, corrosive, explosive)
  • Controlled substances
  • Illegal items under UK law
  • Items prohibited by Royal Mail or courier regulations

Such items will be refused.

6. High-Volume Storage

This service is not a warehouse. Bulky or multiple packages that exceed storage limits may be:

  • Refused
  • Returned to sender
  • Subject to storage charges

7. Termination of Service

We may suspend or terminate service immediately if:

  • You misuse the address
  • Illegal activity is suspected
  • You repeatedly attempt to use the address as a residential address
  • You repeatedly attempt to use it for DVLA or ID documents
  • Payments are not maintained

We will normally provide notice unless immediate action is required.

8. Your Responsibilities

You must:

  • Keep your contact details up to date
  • Provide valid ID when requested
  • Ensure third parties understand this is not a residential address
  • Collect or arrange forwarding of mail promptly
  • Follow UK law relating to company registration and mail handling
